Great Question! That’s the interesting part of making a blog popular!
You can do it with expensive registrations such as yahoo directory which is one of the most efficient and reliable directory.
Or you can do it through other smaller and cheaper directories. The question is then: Is it worth paying, is it going to deliver the traffic? Is it reliable.
That exercice separates the men from the boyz. The successful bloggers know how to find free directories that increase the traffic.
My way of doing it is to look in search engines of Google, Yahoo, Alexa and DMOZ for FREE BLOG DIRECTORIES.
You might get annoyed when you ll find out that some of those so called Free Directories ask for a contribution. As we say: No Pain, No Gain.
Another way to do things is to search for the incoming links (or back links) of a high traffic blog that you have noticed on the net.
Enter the URL into Alexa and click on Incoming Links to see the list of website that link to that popular blog. Some of these websites are free directories.
This can also be done with Yahoo Explorer.
